You’re planning to transform your sales and marketing organization with a Salesforce implementation, but how do ensure a smooth implementation?

- Think big – define your vision, goals, and metrics.
- Choose a champion – someone with a strategic perspective who is passionate and knowledgeable about Salesforce.
- Select a Salesforce administrator – an employee or consultant who understands the potential of Salesforce has a natural curiosity and willingness to dig into your system, tweak and optimize it. This person goes beyond the big picture to the nitty-gritty of optimizing everyday processes.
- Create process roadmaps – each process will need to be translated into the Salesforce platform, along with related workflows and approval chains.
- Dig for the data you want to import into Salesforce. You may uncover it in Excel spreadsheets, Access databases and more. And then again, you may discover that what you need doesn’t even exist. When that happens, you’ll need to create a process to assure that the information you need is captured in the future.
- Clean it up – assure the data is consistent, and de-dupe it.
- Set up Salesforce.
- Customize it to your company’s needs.
- Test it.
- Prep your people. Just as workers are required to move a product down an assembly line, you also need people to maximize the power of Salesforce. It’s essential to train users and show them how Salesforce will make their work lives more productive and rewarding.
- Deploy it.
- Measure it. Don’t simply look at your ROI. You also want to know how well Salesforce is being adopted. So keep an eye on logins, activity audits, call logs and more. The more it’s used, the more likely you are to see an amazing return on investment.
